How we vet walkers

Every walker passes through three checks before they appear on the map.

1. ID verification

Government-issued photo ID is required and matched against the walker's profile photo. Anonymous accounts are never approved.

2. Profile review

Our team reviews every walker application — bio, services, pricing, and references. Anything incomplete or suspicious is rejected.

3. First-walk monitoring

New walkers' first few walks are flagged for closer review. Reviews and reports from owners are read by a real person.

In-app safety

What happens during a walk

Live GPS during the walk. In-app messaging keeps a record of conversations. Walkers can't pressure you to move payment off-platform — agree how you pay (cash or transfer) directly with the walker, and we never see or touch the money.

Disputes

If something goes wrong

Open a support ticket from the app or email us. We read every report. Walkers with substantiated complaints are removed from the platform; serious incidents are escalated to authorities. Reviews from real bookings cannot be removed by the walker.

Reply within 24 hours, usually faster. For urgent walk-in-progress issues, the in-app SOS button connects you to us immediately.

Insurance

Insurance & liability

Walkers are independent service providers — they're responsible for their own conduct, just like a sitter you'd find through word of mouth. We do not currently offer Shapa-issued insurance. Many walkers carry their own; check the walker's profile for details. We're transparent about this so you can make an informed choice.
